Modern Slip Cast Ceramics

In modern design, materials and processes often become subject matter in and of themselves. The process I use to create my work begins with a line drawing of a profile. This line is then rotated to create a round solid plaster vessel using the potters wheel, or cut out from a rectangular block of plaster if the cross section is square. I then apply a grid to the surface of the solid plaster model. I use the grid to draw and then carve a layered geometric design that calls the original profile into question suggesting many different potential vessels occupying the same space.
